By BBN Staff: The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is using some of their equipment in an effort to restore water supply in the village of Mahogany Heights in the Belize District.
NEMO is assisting the Village Council and Water Board with a backhoe as they carry out urgent repairs to the water lines which have substantial leaks.
The leaks have resulted in inadequate water supply for over 250 villagers.
The situation became critical about a week ago as the leaks worsened, leaving the village virtually without water.
The Ministry of National Emergency Management and NEMO in conjunction with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development are working to restore normalcy to the lives of the villagers of Mahogany Heights.
