By BBN Staff: Today, Export Belize, a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), is hosting a one-day training session for business support organizations (BSO)’s to teach them how to use the Small and Medium Business Assessment Tool developed by the Caribbean Export Development Agency.
The tool is a set of questions in four major areas that seeks to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a business and point out areas that may need development or investment. The four major areas are Product and Services, Marketing, Financing, and Management.
BSO’s such as the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Belize Colation of Service Providers (BCSP), the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and representatives from various city and town councils who work with entrepreneurs attended the session.
A representative of the CEDA met with BSO’s at the office of the Belize Coalition of Service Providers on Lizarraga Avenue Belize City, to show them how to navigate the tool to assist the businesses that will be using it later.
Diana Hernandez, export Development Officer, Export Belize BELTRAIDE, explained that after the session, attendees will be able to go back to their respective organizations and begin directing small and medium businesses through completing the assessment, as well as sitting with them after and making recommendations for their business based on the assessment results.
