Belizean busted in Mexico with endangered species of marine life

By BBN Staff: According to a report from Mexico News Today, a Belizean was arrested by Mexican environment officials after entering Mexico bound for China with protected marine life.

He was detained after a routine inspection was done at the airport.

Mexican authorities found in his possession two bags containing 88 dried seahorses along with two bags of sea cucumbers and two bags of fish bladders.

The Belizean national will be criminally charged in Mexico for crimes against biodiversity.

Internationally, seahorses are an endangered species and in Mexico, they are protected animals.
