Police catch 3 robbers in an act; shoots two during escape attempt

BBN Staff: Belize City police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last night.

Around 6:20 PM, Dion Gentle,34, a security guard for Harpie Security reported to authorities that as he arrived at his office, he was approached by 2 men.

One of the persons pointed a gun to Gentle’s head and took a bag from him that had (2) .38 revolver Smith and Wesson sr # AM770125 and BBB8990, a handheld radio, and other items.

Police responded to the scene quickly and detained 3 suspects at the Lord Ridge Cemetery and were able to recover the (2) .38 revolvers Smith and Wesson, and a bag containing a handheld radio.

 During the apprehension, police shot 2 minors ages 16 and 17.

The 16-year-old minor was shot to his leg and the 17-year-old minor was shot to his thigh.

Harry Montero,23, was also detained.

Both injured minors were taken to the KHMH where they are presently in a stable condition under police guard.

Police investigation continues.
