By BBN Staff: Belmopan police are investigating a report of sex trafficking in More Tomorrow Village, Cayo District.

According to reports,  Valentine Pop, 60, is accused of bringing a 17-year-old minor from Melchor, Guatemala and using her for sex.

Yesterday, Pop was charged for 2 counts of human trafficking and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. He was offered bail of $10,000 but wasn’t able to meet it.

The Guatemalan minor told authorities that Pop brought her from Melchor to live with him at Cool Shade Farm and he collected money from different men whom he allowed to have sex with her for the years: 2014,2015, 2016 and 2017.

The minor also reported that she was pregnant and Pop brought a woman to the house to attempt to abort the baby.

However, the woman couldn’t perform the abortion and the minor escaped from the farm and reported the incident to police.
