Taiwanese doctor plans to build free hospital in Belize

Posted: Saturday, July 28, 2018. 11:20 am CST.

BBN Staff: Asian media outlets are reporting that Taiwanese doctor,  Liu Chao-hui, is planning to build a hospital in Belize.

This hospital will reportedly provide free medical care to Belizeans.

Reports are that the hospital will be named after his youngest daughter Lisa, who died from cancer at the age of 18.

According to Chao-hui , his daughter had always wanted to be a doctor.

The idea for the hospital was started during a meeting between Chao-hui and Health Minister Pablo Marin in Taipei back in April.

Later on, in June the Taiwanese doctor visited Belize as part of a charity medical mission.

“Belize was love at first sight,” he told the Asian press.

He added, ” And should I be unable to accomplish this dream in my lifetime, I hope later generations of my family will strive to keep my daughter’s spirit alive.”

The hospital will be constructed in southern Belize.

An empty plot of land has already been allocated for its construction.

It will cost about US $9 million to build the hospital.
