By BBN Staff: Instead of spending his Sunday morning in church, Albert Wagner opted to shoot members of a rival gang.
Reports are that he left Taylor’s Alley en route to Lindo’s Alley armed with a firearm.
While opening fire at a residence, he attracted a police mobile on patrol which set chase after him.
He ran but was nabbed near the intersection of Vernon Street and Water Lane.
That was when he threw the firearm away.
However, police quickly recovered it and detained Wagner.
He was slapped with charges of keeping a firearm without a gun license, discharging a firearm in public and possessing a firearm for gang activity.
The latter charge comes in light of recent legislation to curtail gang violence.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, Wagner is the first to be charged with the new legislation.
“Its a very good case and the police officers are the witnesses in the matter. We are hoping we can follow through with a conviction,” said Williams.
He added, “I commend the officers for their good work… I want to publicly thank the officers and ask that they continue to do their best…”
