Belize Waste Control office targeted by armed assailants

Posted: Monday, July 30, 2018. 5:30 p.m. CST.

By BBN Staff: On Friday morning the Belize Waste Control head office on the George Price Highway was the venue of a major crime.

Three armed mask men entered the compound and held up the two security guards on duty.

Bryan Smith and Alvin Flores both employees of SOS Security were relieved of their firearms.

The armed assailants then broke into an office on the compound and stole an iron safe.

The safe contained $5,000 in cash and some assorted documents.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, this is not the first time that the Belize Waste Control has been targeted.

We note that in April, the iron safe was broken into and thousands of dollars were stolen.
