Police: Dean Nembhard’s murder result of gangland drama

By BBN Staff: Dean Nembhard, 23, was shot dead just before midnight on Friday night on Berries street in the Lake Independence area of Belize city.

During a press conference today, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alejandro Cowo, provided an update on the murder case.

Cowo confirmed that Nembhard’s death was in connection with an ongoing rivalry between the Peace in the Village (PIV) gang and the Backa Lands Crip (BLC) gang.

Nembhard had reportedly left one of those gangs to join the other, however, in doing so, he marked his former allies for death.

Police have not yet made any arrest. According to ASP Cowo, Nembhard’s friends who witnessed his murder are not cooperating with the investigation.

BBN notes that in April of this year, Nembhard was shot twice in the stomach while walking in the Gungulung area of Belize city.
