By BBN Staff: Today, the Jasmine Alert initiative marked its 6th anniversary with a press conference at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City.

Founder, Patrick Menzies, looked back on some accomplishments stacked up to this year.

Those accomplishments include establishing a relationship with Amber Alert in Mexico, receiving training from the Amber Alert office in Texas, hosting various vigils and conducting recruitment drives for volunteer members.

While celebrating the success of the initiative, Menzies went on to sign a document of commitment from both major telecommunications providers, Smart and Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL).

Menzies revealed that the toll-free number to report a missing child via BTL connection is 610-LIVE or 610-5483.

For Smart subscribers, the number to call is 0800-Jasmine or 0800-527-6463.

Menzies thanked members of the private sector for their commitment to the initiative as well as the Belize Police Department.

The Jasmine Alert was founded in 2012 after thirteen-year-old Jasmine Lowe who was reported missing and was later found dead.

When a child is reported missing in Belize, the Jasmine Alert initiative sends off a national indication via social media and text messages.
