By BBN Staff: The Belize Fisheries Department today informed that in accordance with the Fisheries Regulations of Belize (Chapter 210 Revised Edition 2003) and Statutory Instrument 78 of 2011, the shark fishing season is officially closed from August 1 to October 31 of any year.
The public is advised to comply with the stipulated Fisheries Regulation below:
1)No person shall take, buy, sell, possess, or export shark meat or fins during the period 1st August to 31st October in any year.
Fishers and the general public are advised to uphold the Fisheries Regulations.
The public can call the department at 224-4552 /203-2623 to report any infractions.
All information given to the Fisheries Department will be treated with the strictest of confidence.
