The delegation includes members of Japan’s Parliamentary Committee on Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, and is headed by Akihiro Nishimura, Chairman of the Committee.
Representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Jamaica are also accompanying the delegation on their visit.
The delegation today met with NEMO Minister, Edmund Castro. The discussions were aimed generally at strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting also included plans for the World Expo 2025 to be held in Osaka/Kansai, Japan.
The delegation is doing site visits to determine the usefulness and effectiveness of the command vehicles that were recently donated to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the Belize National Fire Service and the Police Department.
The meeting was held at the Edward Laing Building in Belize City and preceded with other meetings with Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington.
