US Embassy’s Woman of the Month: Nilda Riverol

Posted: Thursday, August 2, 2018. 11:29 am CST.

BBN Staff:  Every month, the United States Embassy in Belize honors a Belizean woman for her arduous work in Belize.

Nilda Sosa Riverol is the Embassy’s Woman of the Month for August, 2018.

Nilda is a mother of two young boys and a central figure at the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE). Nilda is very passionate about her work. She believes that the impact and positive change we want in our economy is not the responsibility of one individual-but an effort by an entire ecosystem and community.

Nilda has held various positions with BELTRAIDE, including Public Relations and Events Coordinator and Senior Business Advisor and Assistant Director for BELTRAIDE’s Small Business Development Centre Belize (SBDCBelize).

In 2013, Nilda became the Manager of SBDC Belize. In this capacity, Nilda strives to foster an environment that efficiently coordinates the competitiveness and development of Micro Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMES) and entrepreneurs. She develops and maintains local, regional, and international professional networks to build a comprehensive business support ecosystem.

Nilda has played a central role in coordinating and developing Belize’s National Entrepreneurship Strategy. She is the main point of contact for most of the medium sized enterprises initiatives and projects within the Central American Integration System (SICA) region.

Nilda is key when it comes to realizing such important initiatives as the National Entrepreneurship Conference (EntreCon), National Month of Entrepreneurship, and Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).

In April 2018, Nilda participated in the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) “Women and Entrepreneurship” – a worldwide exchange to provide opportunities to foreign current and emerging leaders and expose them to entrepreneurial efforts led by government and non-government grassroots organizations to further aid them in the development of their countries’ entrepreneurial initiatives.

Nilda is now a member of the U.S. International Exchange Alumni, poised to continue building her network and further strengthening SBDCBelize, BELTRAIDE.

BBN congratulates Nilda for her accomplishments!
