Anthony “Boots” Martinez in hot water again!

Posted: Tuesday, August 7, 2018. 10:10 am CST.

BBN Staff:  An internal audit by the Belize City Council suggests that Port Loyola Area Representative, Anthony “Boots” Martinez, may have strong armed some equipment donated to the Belize City Council by the Government of Belize (GoB).

The audit completed last month revealed that in 2015 GOB had donated a John Deer tractor, a Caterpillar bulldozer and a flat bed trailer all valued at $173,000, however, the council never received them.

The audit revealed that the Works Manager at the council, Ramon Menjivar, told auditors he didn’t recall what happened to the items but that they were parked at Martinez’s property at mile 3 on the George Price highway.

Finance Director at the council, Marilyn Ordonez, told auditors she made numerous efforts to recover the vehicles which she was made to understand had been held by Martinez.

From August 2015 to present she contacted Financial Secretary, Joseph Waight, but he has not yet responded to her emails, she told auditors.

BBN understands that the Belize City Council is gearing up to take action but while they do so, Martinez has already indicated to the press that he simply does not have the vehicles.
