By BBN Staff:  Our BBN person of the week is saxophonist Allan Martin McCoy. McCoy is known on stage as ‘Di Real McCoy’.

He is an upcoming saxophone musician.

When Allan was 8 years old, he taught himself how to play keyboards without reading notes. He then developed a lifelong passion and love for music.

In 2011, Allan participated in Open Your Eyes Summerfest Kids Concert doing Lord Rhaburn’s hit song “Yo Baan Deh” with all the other performers.

Allan was formally trained to play saxophones by Chris Bradshaw of Wesley College Music Class in 2013.

McCoy began playing for the Gwen Lizarraga High School’s Marching Band and remained there until his departure in May 2015 as the saxophone player.

In November of that same year, McCoy made his first debut at the Saving Ashley fashion show to raise funds for a patient who was diagnosed with cancer.

Since then, McCoy has grown to be a well-known saxophone musician performing all over Belize for events.

In July 2017, Allan became a member of the Associations for Belizean artists first and has since been performing also at school events.

Allan continues to promote his talent on the media in Belize.

He will perform at this year’s Soundfest for the second time.

McCoy recently released his first album entitled ‘ Di Real McCoy plays Spanish Hits’ which are instrumental love songs.

BBN congratulates McCoy for his accomplishments!
