Guatemalan National detained in Chiquibul National Park

BBN Staff:  Police are investigating a report of an armed Guatemalan found inside the Chiquibul National Park.

According to reports, yesterday around 4:40 pm, a park ranger handed over Jaime Leonel Felipe Calderon, 27, a Guatemalan of San Jose Las Flores to San Ignacio Police.

Calderon was found with a .22 rifle along with 5 .22 live rounds.

The ranger reported to authorities that while conducting a patrol in the Chiquibul National Park, he detained Calderon and found in his possession the rifle and ammunition.

Calderon have since been detained pending charges.
