BBN Staff: Belize is proudly being represented at the First Global Robotics Olympics in Mexico.

Students from Belize High School, Belize City, and Ocean Academy of Caye Caulker are participating in the competition.

The event started on August 15 and ends tomorrow, August 18, 2018. Students from 193 countries are participating.

The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Energy’ and students will be engaged in activities in robotic forms using science.

The teams representing their respective countries are expected to display methods on the conservation of energy and help develop scientific concepts on how to conserve energy.

The International Robotic Challenge focuses on igniting more passion and interest for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields and for these youths to explore scientific concepts which are attainable for development.

Several other Caribbean countries are being represented at the Olympics.

The event is being held at Arena, Cuidad de Mexico, Mexico City.
