Candice Miller sues city council for wrongful termination

Posted: Wednesday, August 22, 2018. 8:50 a.m. CST.

By BBN Staff: Candice Miller was terminated from her post as City Administrator shortly after the People’s United Party (PUP) won the Belize City Council election.

The council claims that in several instances she displayed a, “dereliction of her duties.”

The council claimed that because she did not ensure a defense was filed, the council was served a one million dollar default judgment to Belize Waste Control.

Also the council claimed that she did not do enough to recover a $25,000 car loan to an Orange Walk resident.

To date, no payments have been made on that loan.

Our newsroom has learnt that she has since filed a claim in the Supreme Court for wrongful termination.

That claim of $498,135 will be heard next month.

Mayor Bernard Wagner is named as the first defendant, followed by his council.

We understand that the council is counter suing Miller, specifically for the million dollar default judgment for which she failed to file a defense.

We will have more on this matter when it heads to court
