Atlantic Bank warns of phishing scam

Posted: Friday, August 24, 2018. 3:36 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Today, Atlantic Bank Limited issued a release to inform all its customers of an on-gong phishing scam.

Customers are being sent fraudulent emails claiming to be from Atlantic bank. The emails inform customers that their online account has been locked and they need to click a link to regain access as a sort of phishing scam.

Customers are being advised that the bank is not sending these emails and any customer who has clicked on the link is urged to call their nearest Atlantic Bank office as soon as possible.

Atlantic Bank informs that they never asks customers to update any information via email.

Phishing scams are attempts by criminals to trick customers to provide sensitive information such as passwords and pin numbers to accounts and credit cards.

The scams are often designed to look genuine using the bank’s logo. However, the address to the website may not have the bank’s real address, atlabank.com but may be something like atlabnk.com.

Customers are advised to protect themselves by not providing any personal or account details and to call their bank immediately if they see any suspicious online activity.
