Third national Validation Exercise held today

During the meeting, participants worked on the review of Belize’s draft National Report in relation to the implementation of the accepted recommendations under the 2nd Cycle of the UPR completed in 2013.

Judith Alpuche, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation, delivered the welcoming remarks, and Orla Kantun Coleman, Director for International Affairs (Cooperation) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the methodology for the actual review.

The meeting saw the participation of several representatives from both the government of Belize and civil society organizations.

The government will be presenting its National Report to the Human Rights Council on November 12, in Geneva, Switzerland.
