Belize City man shot while purchasing fried chicken

BBN Staff: A shooting last night in Belize City has left one man injured.

He has been identified as Matthew Smith.

He was purchasing fried chicken at a food shop on Cemetery Road sometime before 10:00 p.m. when three men approached him.

One of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting him once in the arm.

Fortunately, an off-duty police officer who was near the establishment set chase after the shooter, however, the suspect was able to escape.

Smith is listed in a stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
