By BBN Staff: President of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), Sapna Budrani, has been placed on administrative leave.
During Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, the decision was made as a result of an explosive internal audit.
The audit documented excessive and abusive fuel consumption, theft and financial irregularities.
However, at no point is Budrani specifically identified but the events took place under her time in office.
Prior to this audit, Budrani came under fire by Music Ambassador, Shyne Barrow.
Barrow had alleged that she was unfit to serve as both President and Administrator of NICH as it would have made little or no room for transparency and accountability.
Yet, Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber, in an interview with the press, publicly defended and expressed confidence in Budrani.
Budrani remains on administrative leave pending an external audit of NICH.
