Two Oceana employees awarded international graduate scholarships

By BBN Staff: Two employees of Oceana have been awarded international scholarships to pursue their graduate degrees this September.

They are Jacinta Gomez and Celeshia Guy.

Gomez, the Outreach Program Director, is the recipient of the Chevening scholarship.

She will pursue her Master’s Degree in Environment and Development at the London School of Economics in the United kingdom.

Guy, the Belize District Field Representative, will pursue her Master’s Degree in Coastal Science and Policy at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the United States.

According to Guy, she hopes to take all her experiences from Oceana into her academic life in hopes of returning to assist her country.

According to Gomez, her work with Oceana has been inspiring and she too hopes to return home to help her country.

The two were commended by their Oceana family and Oceana Vice President, Janelle Chanona.
