Posted: Thursday, August 30, 2018. 4:25 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Shipyard resident, Abraham Friesen, 24, remains out on bail after he was charged with a firearm related offence on Tuesday.

He pleaded not guilty in the Orange Walk Magistrate Court and was able to meet bail of $5,000 plus one surety of the same amount.

He is scheduled to return to court on  November 12.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alejandro Cowo today told the press that police assigned to the Special Patrol and Anti Drug Units conducted a search of Friesen’s home.

That search led to the discovery of a .223 semi automatic rifle for which he had a license.

However, up on closer inspection,  police observed that the rifle had a scope for which he had no license.

As a result he was charged with the offense of, ‘tampering with a firearm without the authorization of the Commissioner of Police’.
