GOB warns of Fraudulent Social Media accounts of ministers

BBN Staff:  The Government of Belize today informed that it is aware of an overwhelming number of fake social media accounts using the identities of past and current Government Ministers.

The public is advised that the following Instagram accounts do not belong to the mentioned officials and are in no way associated with their Ministries:

Dean Barrow, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Labour, Local Government, Rural Development, Energy, Public Utilities, Public Service, and Elections and Boundaries.

Hugo Patt, Minister of Natural Resources.

Rene Montero, Minister of Works.
Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Frank Mena, Minister of State in the Ministries of Public Utilities, Public Service, and Elections and Boundaries
Carla Barnett, Minister of State in the Ministries of Labour, Local Government, and Rural Development.
Beverly Williams, Minister of State in the Ministries of Immigration and Nationality.
Vanessa Retreage, Former Attorney General of Belize.

Any pages purporting to be the official account of or bearing photos or personal information of the aforementioned officials, are fake and unauthorized.

Any activities or information originating from these fake profiles constitutes fraud.

The Government of Belize further advises the public to report such profiles, to disregard any requests or communication from such profiles, and to especially refrain from sharing any personal information with such accounts.
