Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood comes under gunfire by police officer

BBN Staff: A vehicle belonging to Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood was shot multiple times in Belize City this afternoon.

Yearwood was driving near the Yarborough bridge with his children and another off-duty officer when they were attacked.

Information to BBN is that Yearwood was attacked by Mobile Interdiction Team (MIT) of the Belize Police Department.

The MIT officers then fled the scene when he exited his vehicle.

However, sources with the police department are saying that the shooter was from a Belize City gang.

Yearwood is currently at the precinct one police station making an official report.

His Mazda Tribute received damages to its back glasses.
