Police say man that died in cement mixer was accidental

BBN Staff: Police have ruled that the death of Jeffrey Hernandez was accidental.

On Monday night, Hernandez was cleaning a cement mixer at AP Enterprise Block Factory at mile 4.5 on the George Price Highway.

He was reportedly inside the mixer when it turned on and began to chop him up.

A coworker heard his cries and rushed over to unplug the mixer.

Officials from the Fire Department and the Belize Emergency Rescue Team (BERT) were called to remove Hernandez from the machine.

Unfortunately, he had already received massive cut wounds to his stomach.

He was pronounced dead while undergoing medical attention.

While his loved ones suspect that his death was intentional, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, said that the death was accidental.

Yet, he revealed that investigators had handed over the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
