By BBN Staff: This morning, the Ministry of National Security held a press conference in Belize City to share more information with the media on the drug plane that was found on Sunday night in Blue Creek, Orange Walk.

Belizean law enforcement officers busted 2 Mexicans and a Belizean police officer with 26 bails of cocaine.

Belize’s Commissioner of Police ( COMPOL), Allen Whylie informed that the police officer that was arrested was not assisting in the narco-trafficking and was detained since he was found in close proximity to where the plane landed.

The COMPOL further told the media that when law enforcement officers met the police officer, they were not satisfied with what he told them so he was arrested.

According to Whylie, the Belize Police Department has launched an investigation into the involvement of the officer.

The COMPOL also admitted that the officer is a distant relative of his wife.
