Steven Gomez guilty of manslaughter!

BBN Staff: Steven Gomez was charged for killing Victor Vargas in 2014.

However, in trial before Justice Francis Cumberbatch yesterday, he was not found guilty of murder but instead, manslaughter.

As a result, he was handed down a sentence of 15 years. But since he has already spent four years on remand, he will only have to spend eleven more years in prison.

In August 2014, Vargas and Gomez got into a physical altercation which escalated when Gomez pulled out a knife and stabbed him twice in the head and neck.

Subsequently, Joseph Vacarro was also accused of the crime but became the main witness against Gomez.

The defense was represented by Oswald Twist while the prosecution was represented by  Portia Ferguson.
