By BBN Staff: Last month Belizean national, Jardehl Muschamp, 16, was selected to join the Barca Football Academy in Arizona,USA.
However, he could not meet the US $69,000 price tag. Fortunately, he received a scholarship which covered about a third of his expenses. Yet his family has had to organize a public appeal for further assistance.
While that was one major hurdle he has had to cross, another has emerged.
His application for a Student F-1 visa was turned down by the US Embassy last week.
This is after the academy and other institutions in Belize contacted the embassy to support Muschamp’s application.
Muschamp’s father, Hilberto Muschamp, told the Amandala that if his son is unable to get the visa he will have to surrender his dreams.
Additionally, the family will return the donations they received from the general public.
