By BBN Staff: Belize Chocolate Company located on Barrier Reef drive in San Pedro represented Belize well recently, bringing home Silver from the International Chocolate awards.
Belize Chocolate Company is an award-winning craft bean-to-bar chocolate making company in Belize.
The company uses 100% Belizean ingredients: cacao beans from the Toledo district, sugar from Orange Walk.
Belize Chocolate Company makes a signature 70% dark chocolate, called Kakaw and adds other Belizean ingredients to make different bars – including orange, cacao nibs, chili, and nibs.
The company opened its first shop in San Pedro in 2012 and their second on the neighboring island of Caye Caulker in 2018.
Chocolate lovers can get bars, truffles and other value-added chocolate products, chocolate drinks, desserts and unique gifts at both locations.
The International Chocolate Awards was judged remotely by an International Grand Jury and in Hoboken, in the New York Metropolitan Region.
The 2018 Americas competition saw a record number of entries from North and Latin America and the Caribbean with over 800 products entered by 130 chocolate companies from 16 different countries.
