By BBN Staff: In the next seven months, Belizeans will go to the polls to determine if they want have Guatemala’s unfounded territorial claim adjudicated in the Internal Court of Justice (ICJ).
Several Belizeans have taken to social media to express their views in an open way. However, the Belize Network of NGOs (BNN) has launched a survey to collect that data.
Aldair Gongora, a Belizean PhD Candidate at Boston University, will lead the survey.
According to a release by the BNN, the targets of this survey are only Belizeans in the online community.
This survey, independent in nature, is to get a quantitative understanding of perspectives held by Belizeans on this matter.
This survey will be done at monthly intervals to mark how public opinion changes per period.
The results of the survey will provide guidance on how information on this important matter should be disseminated to the public.
The data collected and the codes used to interpret will be made available to the public after the survey is over.
Those wishing to participate in this anonymous survey can go to this link: bit.ly/theguatemalaclaim.
The BNN urges all Belizeans to complete the survey and to share the link.
