By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation, and Poverty Alleviation joins the country in mourning the devastating loss of Alfred Petillo and his three children in the tragic fire on Sunday morning in the Orange Walk District.
According to a release from the Ministry, they have reached out to all three families affected by Sunday’s fire and has provided them with counselling intervention via counsellors from the Belize Community Counselling Center.
The Ministry says that they are also providing material assistance for all three families inclusive of burial assistance to help with funeral costs.
The Ministry further adds that the Family Support Social Worker stationed in the Orange Walk District will continue to follow up with the families with regards to additional medium-term assistance and they will continue to coordinate with its partners, including the Ministry of Education, to support the wider community.
The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the families as they try to cope with their heartbreaking loss.
