By BBN Staff: Many Belizeans yesterday questioned the veracity of Facebook logging them out of their personal Facebook accounts and then requiring them to log in back.
Users were concerned about the safety of their information on Facebook as well as their personal privacy.
An official statement from Facebook informed that almost 50 million of its users were exposed as a result of a security flaw.
According to Facebook, attackers exploited the vulnerability in the feature ” View as”.
Users that had potentially been affected were required to log in on Friday morning.
Facebook also alerted all users that the flaw has been corrected and all affected accounts were reset. As a precaution to other Facebook users, their accounts were also reset.
The multi-media social network has more than 2 billion monthly active users.
Facebook continues to investigate the situation and is yet to determine if any information was accessed and misused.
Among the millions of accounts affected was Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerburg’s account.
