18 women from San Victor complete computer training course

Posted: Tuesday, October 2, 2018. 9:17 am CST.

Staff: Eighteen women from San Victor, Orange Walk yesterday completed a four-month computer training program.

The program was made possible through the Women and Family Support Department (WFSD) in the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation.

The four-month training program provided the eighteen women with basic computer skills including designing business cards, creating and using Excel sheets and navigating the internet.

The women, several of whom used a computer for the first time during the training, were very appreciative of the course.

They are already utilizing their newly developed skills to promote and improve their businesses and assist their children with homework.

The participants were awarded certificates at a ceremony marking the end of the training.

Skills training is one of many activities undertaken by the Women and Family Support Department as it strives to facilitate the economic development and empowerment of women as key actors in the country’s development.

Interested participants can find out more about their support services by calling 227-7397.
