Posted: Thursday, October 4, 2018. 6:43 pm CST.

Staff: On Friday, September 28, 2018, a closing ceremony was conducted at the Santa Cruz Primary Government school in Orange Walk.

The school underwent a renovation project courtesy of the United States Embassy in Belize and the US Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Southern Command 18’s (SPMAGTF-SC 18) Logistics Combat Element.

The project was completed over a 4 week period.

The renovation was funded by U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) at a cost of approximately $15,000 USD.

Renovations included replacement of a leaking roof, repairs to windows and doors, upgrades to the electrical system, installation of a new fence, and bathroom repairs.

The project has created a more suitable environment for its 86 students and 4 teachers and furthers the US Embassy’s long term goal of building capacity and resilience for the nation of Belize.
