By BBN Staff: Taiwan commemorates October 10 as their National Day.

The day is set aside to commemorate the uprising of Wuchang.

The Wuchang Uprising of 1911 overthrew the Chinese Emperor and established a republican form of government.

The day is celebrated with official ceremonies, fireworks and cultural presentations in Taiwan.

Last year, in celebration of Taiwan’s National Day, the Taiwan Embassy in Belize donated 40 Asus laptops to Belizean organizations including Breaking Belize News.

Ambassador Charles Liu and the Taiwan Embassy in Belize is scheduled to celebrate their national day celebrations in Belize tomorrow.

Earlier this year, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing Wen visited Belize to pledge more assistance to Belize.

The Taiwanese President said she was grateful for the support Belize has shown her country throughout the years.

Belize and Taiwan established diplomatic ties in 1989 and have enjoyed strong bilateral relations ever since.
