PC Micheal Patten to face disciplinary charges

Posted: Friday, October 5, 2018. 9:51 am CST.

Staff: Police constable Micheal Patten will face disciplinary charges for an incident that occurred at a club in Orange Walk on Saturday morning.

Patten was reportedly socializing at a club when he noticed a fight and fired several shots in the air.

Patten reportedly told police that he was breaking up a fight outside the club and in the process of taking the injured person to his vehicle to escort that person to the hospital, he fired several shots in the air to prevent being attacked by the crowd.

The video of the incident is circulating on social media along with other versions of how the incident unfolded.

Patten is attached to the Belmopan police formation.

Police are investigating this incident and have withheld Patten’s .9mm service issued gun.

Yesterday, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette informed that Patten could have called for assistance during the incident.

Myvette also shared that Patten will be facing disciplinary charges for the incident.
