By BBN Staff: Our newsroom has documented several allegations of irregularities at the National Bank of Belize (NBB).
However, none of those allegations had more substance than an employee recently charged with theft from the institution.
He has been identified as bank teller, Ivor Garcia, 19.
General Manager of the NBB, Alvaro Alamina, 60, told police that after an audit was conducted at the bank it was discovered that a total of $12,000 in cash had gone missing.
After reviewing the surveillance cameras at the bank, Garcia was purportedly seen pocketing the monies in question on Independence Day.
