By BBN Staff: The Utility Workers Union (UWU) has issued a press release expressing its support for the Christian Workers’ Union (CWU) amidst a current negotiation impasse with the Port of Belize Limited.
The Utility Workers Union says that it firmly believes that current labor laws should not be used as an excuse to reduce the possible income of an employee.
The statement highlighted that it has been more than half a decade since both parties have initiated negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
“During this ridiculously long period of negotiations, the workers have already taken on losses, as they cannot enjoy CBA derived benefits,” the statement added.
In conclusion the Utility Workers Union urges both parties to finalize the CBA.
