Man dies after losing control and plunging into river

BBN Staff: A man lost his life last night in a road traffic accident in Orange Walk.

Around 11:30 last night, police were called to the San Antonio bridge located at the entrance of San Antonio village.

There, police saw a grey Ford Ranger pickup submerged in the Rio Hondo river.

The pickup had license plate BC-C 56484.

The body of the man was retrieved from the river. He is approximately 5’ 6’’ in height.

He was wearing a pink T-Shirt, blue short jeans pants and brown leather sandals.

Police investigations revealed that the man was driving from the direction of Orange Walk Town to San Antonio village and upon approaching the Rio Hondo bridge, he lost control and fell into the river.

The body of the unidentified man was transported to the Northern Regional hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police investigations continue.
