Suspect in murder of Jose Medina absconds country

BBN Staff: In an interview with the media, today police shared an update on investigations into the murder of Jose “Doofy” Medina, 23.

Medina was shot and killed on Thursday morning in the Backa-town area of Orange Walk Town while his girlfriend Lucia Luna, 28, survived her injuries.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, today revealed that investigators have recorded several witness statements.

Additionally, he revealed that the vehicle used in the shooting has since been impounded by police.

He also told the press that Luna has been interviewed but has refused to cooperate with police.

Cowo also confirmed that a suspect who was detained on Friday has been interrogated and released.

He also confirmed that another wanted suspect has presumably absconded the country.

According to him, Belizean authorities remain in communication with Mexican Police for assistance.
