Aquatica foundation to be launched before historic expedition to Blue Hole

BBN Staff:The Aquatica Submarines historic expedition to the Belize Blue Hole draws near and the President and CEO Harvey Flemming broke another announcement today.

Flemming announced the creation of the ‘Aquatica Foundation’.

The new organization seeks to join global experts and take actions towards three primary ocean imperatives: Exploration, Restoration and Education.

A statement published on PRNewswire by Aquatica today reported that the foundation is a non-profit organization that will support the 2018 Aquatica’s Belize Blue Hole expedition.

Partners for these new initiatives include Belize’s non governmental organizations, Ocean Unite, Oceanic Global, Oceana, The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center, and the Belize Audubon Society.

Flemming is serving as the Managing Director and Founder, while Robert Falls will become Executive Director, and  Paul Jaffe will become Managing Director of the new foundation.

The expedition will also be supported by Weeks Abroad and Empire Group.

Co-founder of Weeks Abroad and explorer, Joby Weeks said, “We’re proud to be supporting the team on this landmark expedition.”

Aquatica Submarines is an emerging company in the manned submersible technology space.

The company’s Stingray 500 submarine will be one of the two submersibles that will venture to the bottom of the Blue Hole.

The Blue Hole is a part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System which is a World Heritage Site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
