By BBN Staff :Mayor Bernard Wagner today met with Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

It’s the first meeting the two leaders have had since Mayor Wagner was elected to office on March 7.

The meeting was cordial but discussions were candid.

Mayor Wagner shared his plans to construct housing for some of Belize’s most needy residents.

This initiative is to be undertaken with international support.

However, Wagner explained that his council would need the support of the Prime Minister to acquire lands that can be used for this project.

Mayor Wagner also discussed the Krooman Lagoon.

The lagoon is reportedly a reserve in the Collet constituency but residents have been building makeshift homes very close to it.

The area is filled with “London Bridges” and makeshift shacks, some of which have faulty electrical wiring.
