US will begin to cut aid to Guatemala, Honduras and Salvador

By BBN Staff: Early this morning, United States President, Donald Trump dropped a bombshell announcement on Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Trump tweeted that the United States will now begin cutting US aid to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador for failing to halt the migrant caravan currently on its way to the US.  “Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S. We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them,” Trump said.

Trump’s announcement came as thousands of migrants continue their journey in Southern Mexico en route to the US.

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, yesterday issued a statement saying that the US government is monitoring the progress of the caravan. Pompeo also accused the migrants of violating the sovereignty, laws and procedures of the countries they are traveling through.

The Trump administration says that they support the Mexican government in their efforts to address this migration crisis.
