By BBN Staff: Within the next few days, the United Democratic Party (UDP) will hold an internal convention to select the next standard-bearer for the Port Loyola constituency.

Outgoing Area Representative, Anthony “Boots” Martinez had told the press that he was the “King” of the constituency.

That comment has sparked discussions in various quarters.

After that news received nation-wide attention, a screenshot also went viral on social media of Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber saying, “crackheads say and do the darnest things.”

In a subsequent interview with the press yesterday, Faber denied that he made such post to Facebook.

For context, Martinez is supporting Attorney General, Michael Peyrefitte, as his successor.

Faber, on the other hand, is supporting former Belize City Councilor, Philip Willoughby.

Faber, like Belmopan Area Representative, John Saldivar, has both expressed interest in leading the UDP into the next general election.

However, Peyrefitte, if successful in this convention will also launch his campaign for UDP leadership.
