By BBN Staff: The Dental Unit of the Ministry of Health held a health fair at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital compound in celebration of Dental Health Week.
The event featured information about the various dental services available around the country, the importance of taking care of teeth through regular brushing and flossing, and the various conditions that result from neglecting oral hygiene.
Dr. Rafael Samos, the senior surgeon with the ministry, explained that the event was observed under the theme “Visit the dentist today and prevent tooth decay.”
He said that the goal was to emphasize making bi-annual trips to the dentist to avoid the complications and expenses that come with unforeseen dental problems such a the need to fill or remove teeth.
“We have 10 dental clinics countrywide. Just twice a year can keep parents from having to spend time away from their jobs to be with their children at the dentist,” Samos said.
Several primary schools attended the event, which was also open to the public
