US Government deploys 5000 troops to US-Mexico border

Posted: Monday, October 29, 2018. 9:28 am CST.

BBN Staff: Today, the United States Government announced the deployment of 5000 troops to the United States-Mexico Border to halt the migrant caravan that is coming from Central America.

According to reports, the troops will provide backup support to border patrol agents at the border and prepare to act if migrants storm the border.

Thousands of Central Americans left Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala on October 13, 2018, en route to the US.

The ‘March of the Migrant’, as it has been dubbed, is currently in Mexico and their ultimate goal is to reach to the US in search of a better life.

They are fleeing persecution, violence, and poverty in their own countries.

Last week, the Mexican Government informed that it would provide work permits for migrants that were granted asylum in Mexico.

However, many of them crossed the Mexico- Guatemala border and continued their journey to the US.

US President Trump continues to emphasize border security policies and has threatened to cut US aid to the countries for failing to halt the migrant caravan.
