By BBN Staff:Belize City resident, Kenrick Hendricks, 35, appeared in the Magistrate Court yesterday to answer to a charge of theft.
Last Friday, Candy Gabourel reported that she was at home on Fairweather street when she was awoken to the sound of someone entering her gate.
When she looked, she saw Hendricks riding off with her bicycle.
Gabourel then contacted Kenrick’s sister, Kimberly Hendricks, and asked if she had given him permission to use the bicycle.
When she denied doing so, Gabourel went to the police station to make an official complaint.
As a result, Hendricks was arrested and charged with theft.
After pleading guilty before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, he was fined $1,500 in addition to $150 for the replacement of the stolen bike.
If Hendricks fails to make payments by November 30th, he will spend a year and a half in prison.
