By BBN Staff:Edward “Ned” Pitts, one of Belize’s brightest stars in sporting history, has left us.
He passed away just before 3 o’clock on Tuesday morning at his home in Belize city.
Pitts, president emeritus of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, has been involved in sports for almost six decades.
He was one of the founding members of the Belize Amateur Athletics Association, and has served as chairman of the National Sports Council.
However, in recent years his health had declined. He was blind and wheelchair bound and even suffered a stroke.
Yet, he remained a great story teller with a lucid memory who was committed to the Methodist Church and sports.
Our newsroom express condolences to his family and friends.
